Write a concise but informative proposal for a group program for a specific audience of teens at one of the areas/libraries that you examined for the Community profile assignment. The program may be related to the topic used in Assignment 4 if you wish. Be as specific as possible with the audience.
Include all of the following:
1) a short literature review at the beginning of the proposal that gives an idea of whether or where the program has been tried before with what success; basically how your idea was born and remember, more than re-inventing the wheel, it is more important to adapt programs to your teens’ needs and interests. The literature review may include listserv and blog discussions, as well as print and other online sources. The literature review does not need to be confined peer-reviewed articles, although all items used must be properly cited in APA style both in the text and in a reference list at the end of the paper.
2) program’s objectives: You can choose to align your objectives with the following documents: a) The Search -Forty developmental assets: http://www.search-institute.org/content/40-developmental-assets-adolescents-ages-12-18b ) The YALSA Futures Report. c) Developmental tasks for adolescence as explained in Agosto, D. E., & Hughes-Hassell, S. (2006). Toward a model of the everyday life information needs of urban teenagers, part 1: Theoretical model. Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, 57(10), 1394-1403.
3) the activities,
4) intended participants,
5) a planning timeline,
6) approximate budget,
7) a publicity plan,
8) a means of evaluation, and
9) a brief list of materials that may be used in the program or displayed in conjunction with it. These materials can also be community resources or other organizations.
10) Prepare a brief summary (250 words or 5 bullet points) to publish to Google classroom where you include: title, one key reading that inspired the program, the objectives, intended audience, reflection/challenges.
