By the time the outline is complete, you should have also gathered at least two other sources for a total of five valid references. Those five references will need to be included. - 5-7 minute Presentation – The 5 – 7 minute Presentation requires each student to orally present selected information about their chosen topic to the class. Presentations can utilize any presentation platform in the institution. The assignment requires the researcher to email the presentation to faculty by 6/20/19. The presentation must include all of the components listed in the rubric (included). This is an opportunity for researchers to practice their public speaking delivery and presentation style. The 5-7 minute presentation is the foundation of the oral defense. The expectation is that each researcher will incorporate the critique and feedback provided by this graded activity to correct insufficiencies.
- Reference Page– Valid research begins with robust and current references and sources. A strong research paper is built on the foundation of recent and reputable research that others have already completed. Each researcher will email their APA formatted reference page to faculty by the deadline of 6/20/2019. The reference page will be evaluated for content as well as formatting. A rubric is included. The expectation is that each researcher will incorporate the critique and feedback provided by this graded activity to correct insufficiencies. It is expected that each researcher will use this as the foundation and continue to build the reference section of the Research paper.
- Draft of Research Paper – The Draft of the Research Paper is a required graded activity. It is expected that each researcher will have completed the writing of the research paper and will successfully merge the Title Page, body of the paper, and the reference sections together. The draft is due to faculty by 7/04/19. All submissions that meet the deadline will be reviewed by faculty and critiqued through the use of track changes. The document with track changes will be returned to each student electronically. Along with the track changes, the draft will be evaluated using the included rubric. Evaluation of the draft will be detailed and every effort will be made to expedite the return of the graded draft so that students can make the indicated changes.
- Draft of Presentation- The Draft of Presentation is a required and graded activity. It is expected that each researcher will adapt the information contained in their research paper in to a 12-15 minute oral presentation.
Final Paper
The Final Paper is the culmination of your research. It must be focused on a new or emerging technology that has applications in medical imaging and is associated with a specific pathology. Each researcher is expected to synthesize the information taken from reputable sources and create original thoughts. Paraphrasing and the liberal use of source citations will be required. It is expected that the use of direct quotations is limited to a total number of less than five throughout the entire paper, and block quotations (quotations that contain more than 40 words) will not be allowed. Additionally, the final paper will be required to meet APA formatting standards including subtitles, include correct spelling and grammar, and contain at least 10 sources (current within a 5 to 6 years period). Of the resources used, the majority must be current to within six years. It is expected that 25% of the references used will be peer reviewed. Rubric included.
