Reaction Paper
There are profound and consequential oral health disparities within the U. S. population according to the Oral Health in America: Report of the Surgeon General and the National Call to Action to Promote Oral Health found at www.surgeongeneral.gov. The Surgeon General issued many calls to actions to remove some of the burdens and disparities. In addition the IOM published report by Smedley BD, Stith AY, Nelson AR, eds. Unequal treatment: confronting racial and ethnic disparities in health care provides numerous reasons for competency in meeting the needs of diverse populations. Reports such as Healthy People 2010 and Healthy People 2020 at www.healthypeople.gov/2020/topics-objectives/topic/oral-health continued to provide objectives and significant data towards goals.
1. Review the summaries of a few reports and the related chapters in Rose.
2. Select an ethnic or racial disparity.
3. Select an oral health objective from specifically from Healthy People 2020.
4. Discuss the ethnic or racial disparity related to the Healthy People 2020 Oral health objective you selected.

1. State the selected culture, health disparity you selected and which oral health objective you selected for the basis of your paper
2. Use formal title of report as is published.
B. Provide more detail about the disparities for your selected culture related to oral health. Give formal government citations for findings.
C. Compare or offer your reaction to the objective related to your chosen disparity. Do you think there could be recommendations to alleviate the disparity and how?
