The Assignment Brief
This task requires students to critically engage and review materials related to the topics presented in weeks 2-3. Students are required to write a ‘Critical Review’ Each ‘Critical Review’ should be 400 words in length (+/- 10%). This assessment is in two parts:
Select weeks 2 and 3 presented in the course in weeks (for Part A) and explain why this research is important. In each response, to be 400 words each (+/- 10% leeway), you should cover the following:
- Why does this research matter? (approx. 300 words)
- What are the social, political, and cultural impacts for this research?
- Why is this study important for criminological research?
- Where does this research need to go? (approx. 100 words)
- What is the next step?
Each critical review should be written in the style of a short answer response, and use appropriate spelling and grammar, paragraphing, and in an academic style. While some additional research may be required, students are expected to engage primarily with the relevant weekly reading material and sources cited within the lecture [note: it is not appropriate to cite a lecture, but you can track down, use and cite sources that are discussed in the lecture].
Students are strongly advised to consult with the assessment marking criteria (below) when formulating their responses.
