Answer one question from Section A (50%) and one question from Section B (50%). Section A requires you to draw on a range of texts (at least three) in your answer and credit will be given for the breadth of reading. Section B is text specific. You should not repeat material across the two sections.
Section A
- Critically discuss the co-existence of, and tensions between, ‘progress’ and ‘decline’ in Victorian literature.
Section B
- Investigate the role and representation of the ‘gentleman’ in Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations.
