My thesis statement is this: “The American Dream is just that, a dream.” I want the paper to argue that no, the American Dream is not real but obviously I’m not sure how to do it since I’m here. The directions say to include a good counter-claim so if you can please do. It also says,”this isn’t a research paper though, so don’t treat it like one”. Below, I have included what I have so far so you can see my thought process but if it doesn’t work out with what you’re writing then don’t give it a second thought. No. The American Dream is just that, a dream. It first started off as a “… land of living hope with longing and desire.” but never truly manifested and took the form of what it was made out to be. It can be seen as an ad campaign to bring people over and make their dreams come true without fail. Where once you step into this promised land, you’re welcomed with grace and opportunity. Where you once started out as nothing and come out as something. People come to America not only because they’ve just been showed a promise of a successful future but also because it’s a place where everyone is promised to have a place to called home, and everyone knows that in today’s society, that isn’t exactly true. Thank you so much in advance for your help, I really do appreciate it. *This essay is due by today (December 15, 2020) 11:59 PM but if possible I’d like to have it earlier so I can add my own little touchfktes to it if needed.
