Guidelines
Your literary analysis should include the following:Introduction•The introduction should be short and concise and convey all the necessary information: author, title, plot, and your thesis statement.Body paragraphs•Here is where you support your interpretation (the thesis statement) by providing examples and quotations from the novel, which you then argue for in favor of your thesis statement. Ask yourself: Does my chosen quote (or example from the text) support my thesis? Take time to reflect on the quotes/examples that you have chosen. They are supposed to convince the reader of your interpretation and support your idea, which you have introduced and explained beforehand. With the quote/example, you are supposed to elaborate on and expand the idea. Conclusion•Restate your thesis, and then summarize your interpretation to prove that your thesis is correct. Finally, given what you have stated in your thesis and supported in the body paragraph, present a personal reflection.
