You are a member of Congress. This bill has recently come up for a vote, or you have just cast your vote on the bill. You will write an Op Ed for the newspaper explaining to your constituents why you voted, or will be voting, for or against the bill. You should make your case in a way that is intended to show the reasons for your vote. You want your constituents to understand your vote and why it is best for your state or district. If it is not a bill that specifically affect your state or district explain why it is best for the nation. Members of Congress write the opinion editorials to reach out to their constituents to garner their support, if possible. At a minimum they want them to know why they took the action that they did. Your essay should be clear and convincing. It should be engaging enough to entice your readefktrs to read the entire essay.
