You will pick a recent news article about economic or political events in the country. The news sources can be from particular media outlets (e.g. CNN or ABC or FOX) or government-run source (e.g. XinHuaNet of China), but you should not use blogs. Start each short essay by listing the title, date, and source of the article that you chose. You will summarize the article and show evidence of your independent thoughts about the events (i.e. why it happens, what you can expect about what will happen next, etc.). Students could focus on a particular theme, such as military issues, elections, or territorial disputes in the region.
Each paper should be written with about 500-1,000 words (do not over 1,000 words). You can submit each essay at any time before each due date. If you submit the assignment after the deadline, you will get only 50% of your grade. No submission is accepted after April 20th. If the instructor notices plagiarism, the assignment will not be accepted and also it should be reported to the university. So, just DO NOT plagiarize. Your essay will be submitted to ‘Turninit’ via Canvas.
