Description
Write a research paper that discusses Jerusalem as physical and/or sacred space. Your paper should include close reading of texts.
Topic: Plague(s) of Jerusalem. A close reading and discussion of 2Samuel 24 and 1Chronicles 21. (You may also include the Seige of Sennacherib in 2Kings 18-20 and Herodotus or more recent events like the 1838 plague described by Edward Robinson, or the locust plague of 1915).
In addition to the pilgrimage account that you choose, your paper must interact with at least one primary source for the century in which the itinerary was composed and at least five secondary sources. I would strongly encourage you to interact thoroughly with the Armstrong textbook for this paper (it may count toward the five required secondary sources).
Note: Feel free to use any secondary source from Armstrong’s Bibliography and jstor. But no online sources such as wikipedia is allowed.
