For this first paper you could look at germline gene modification generally and CRISPR specifically. Almost all of the research will be on animal models—which is fine, as that will give you some sense of what works and what are the remaining obstacles to be overcome before it’s used in humans*. Describe the techniques, the risks, the goals, the outcomes, and then, based on these studies, offer a brief summary of what these studies tell you overall about the state of the tech and its possible uses in humans.
