The tasks identified here must all be completed and presented in a single report completed in MS Word format. When this report is submitted it must be done so in conjunction with the full completed Excel workbook showing all your relevant calculations and workings.
1. Load up the Dataset spreadsheet Excel workbook provided and create additional worksheets in this workbook as needed. As a minimum there must be at least one spreadsheet for each relevant task below. Make sure that each of these sheets are clearly named in line with the Task concerned.
2. In the case of both companies you are required to calculate
(a) the Mean, Median and Mode Annual Salary for Males and for Females (30%)
(b) the Standard Deviation Annual Salary for Males and Females (20%)
(c) the Coefficient of Variation for Male and Female salaries (5%)
3. Construct a Histogram for each company that shows the salaries by gender. Display both Histograms on the same worksheet .
4. By referring to the values you obtained in Question 2 above and the images produced for Question 3 above, comment on what the data reveals about:
– the distribution of salary levels between the two companies
– the distribution of salary between the two genders
Explain the significance of the Coefficient of Variation in these cases.
5. Access the Office for National Statistics website using this link www.ons.gov.uk . Use this site to search in the Employment and Labour Market section for People at Work.

You need to obtain from here national information for the UK on the Gender Pay Gap between males and females for 2019. Using this information, compare the gender pay gap that exists in the two companies here with the national situation. What does this reveal? What reasons do you think might explain this “gap”?
