Each student will choose an Airline which can be passenger or cargo and conduct research about the company. The purpose of the airline research paper is to make each student an “expert” in terms of your personal knowledge about a specific airline using the principles and knowledge gained in this class. Also, this assignment is designed to help you learn more about how to find out as much as possible about a particular company.
Research Paper:
At a minimum the paper must include the following information:
A. The history of the airline .
B. The size, scope, and operational figures: fleet size, personnel size, and various
operational measures .
C. Operational metrics , Available Seat Miles
, Actual Ton Miles, Overall on-time performance.
D. Hubs/Route Structure
E. Fiscal Data: Long-term debt, recent profit/loss statements from last fiscal reporting period, current stock price.
F. Management structure Company Info: Key people in the company, recent personnel changes, key departments, companies mission statement, vision statement, goals and objectives.
G. Analysis of marking and/or operations strategy employed by the airline. Who is their competition?
H. Analysis of the future of the airline: Possible expansions, possible fleet changes, possible merger, layoffs/hiring. Where is airline expected to be in five years?
