Define it. Identify the source and cause of it. Remember anger is a secondary emotion. Identify the emotion causing the angry reaction. Is it Hurt?
Frustration? Have client identify what kinds of situations cause them to feel frustration. Are there certain types of people that are more frustrating than others?
Fear? Fear tends to focus on things in the future. It’s easier for some to express anger in situations that cause fear and anxiety because the person feels less vulnerable. Ask your client if there is something they are afraid of or anxious about that could be triggering their anger.
