CC: bilateral knee pain
HPI: JT is a 15-year-old, African American, male who reports with dull pain in both knees. He indicates that sometimes one or both of his knees click. He describes the feeling as a catching sensation under the patella.
Additional history would need to assess the patient’s knee pain, includes the quality, severity, duration, timing, and other signs and symptoms associated with the pain. For example, some pertinent questions would include, “When did the pain start?”, “How do you rate the pain on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the worst?”, “Does the pain radiate?”, “Does anything make the pain better or worse?”, “Have you ever experienced this type of pain before?”, “What have you tried at home to try and alleviate the pain?”.
