Digital Divide
Description
In a paper of approximately 500 words (two double-spaced pages), apply one or two outside sources and draw on insights from Barden’s “Facebook Levels the Playing Field: Dyslexic Students Learning through Digital Literacies” and Wei and Hindman’s “Does the Digital Divide Matter More? Comparing the Effects of New Media and Old Media Use on the Education-Based Knowledge Gap” to address the following prompts on the digital divide and technologies of social inclusion:
Evaluate Barden’s findings on dyslexic students’ embrace of Facebook as a tool for inclusion. Suggest how Wei and Hindman’s findings can be applied to create meaningful solutions to closing the digital divide.
