Multi-genre Research Paper
How social media affect homelessness
“Genre” means “type or class.” When applied to writing, a multi-genre paper means a paper consisting of many types of writing. For this assignment, you get to choose a topic to research. In addition to learning research skills and citation format, you will be required to write in three different genres–one required and 2 of your choice. The required genre will be a 3-5 page college-style research paper with works cited page. The other 2 you select from the list below. You will need to select one from the digital composition column and one from the artistic composition column.
Why multi-genre? This type of research allows you to explore more than one framework and present a richer understanding of your topic. Audience and purpose take on more meaning when you have to justify your choice of genre to convey meaning.
