Interview a social worker various professional roles and perspectives of their professional experience.

1. (1 page) Describe the roles and responsibilities of the social worker you “interviewed.” What was their population of interest? What did you find interesting about their experience(s)? What information did they share that surprised you?
2. (1 page) The capacity to understand the experience and perspectives of other individuals or groups and use this empathic connection as a basis for productive professional relationships is a necessary component of effective social work practice. Discuss your findings from your interview with a social worker and the ways in which social workers must act empathically and effectively in their roles.
3. (1 page) The capacity for self-reflection and self-management in situations that challenge one’s values and beliefs is a necessary component of a professional social work practice that supports the dignity and worth of others. Describe an experience you have had in an academic, volunteer or professional setting that required you to demonstrate the capacity for self-reflection and self-management in a role that placed you in service to others.
4. (1 page) The WSSU BSW program develops social workers for micro, mezzo, and macro level practice. Discuss where you see your future-self in 5 and 10 years. Do you see yourself as a social worker? Why or why not? What area of practice would you like to work in? Why? What strengths do you currently possess to support your plan? In what areas do you need growth?
