Climate Change
Every year world leaders convene for two weeks at the UN Climate Conference. Last November they met in Baku, Azerbaijan. At these meetings they discuss how the climate is changing and what needs to be done. For this discussion post, you are one of the world leaders at the conference and you are charged with responding to the following questions:
- Do we have an ethical obligation to address greenhouse gas emissions? What ethical perspective do you use to justify acting or not acting?
- What are the best ways to reduce greenhouse gases or is there some other policy in place that you would enact to address climate change (i.e. geoengineering)?
- Do we need policy to make people act or would economic incentives be a better alternative? Whichever you select, what policy do you propose or what economic incentives do you propose?
- How can we get more people involved in reducing greenhouse gases?
- What are you actually willing/able to do to reduce greenhouse gases?
You must also respond to two other world leaders (your classmates) and indicate what aspects of their plan to address climate change you agree with, or how you think they could improve their plan.
