Write a 2 to 3 page essay in MLA format on a topic, using the technique of description. Your essay will have an introduction, at least three body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Your argumentative statement should explain why the topic you have chosen is important or meaningful to you; in other words, why you chose to share it for this assignment.
Keep in mind what you have read from the text book, along with the journal article over vivid description, bringing in the five senses, and using your physical body to explain emotions.
Then, based on the outline, type up a rough draft of your essay.
PROOFREAD, revise, and finish your final draft of the Descriptive Essay. Remember that you should have correct punctuation and grammar.
You might choose to describe a physical experience, like riding a roller coaster or snorkeling. You might choose to describe a place or a thing you have strong feelings about, such as a beloved cabin at the lake or a beloved truck. You might choose an event, like Thanksgiving dinner or a Fourth of July cookout. Some of your body paragraphs might be in the form of a story.
Write in first person point of view and write about a real thing you have experienced. Do not write fiction. Use MLA formatting for title, headings, spacing, page numbers, margins, font style, etc.
Include plenty of input from your five senses and use vivid, specific words as discussed in your book.
