Predictors of anxiety
Choose one dependent (outcome) variables from the data file provided – for example, anxiety and /or depression. (I chose anxiety).
Choose two or three independent (predictor) variables( I chose two – 1. warm father, 2. anxious attachment) to act as potential predictors of your dependent variable – if you have chosen any of the parenting styles, if you wish these can count as one predictor (IV) and then you need only choose one other independent variable(this is in order to make this a multiple as opposed to simple regression.
Write briefly about these variables and how they relate to each other and evaluate these previous studies
Identify gaps in the literature that can inform your hypotheses
Briefly justify your study (say WHY you are doing it)
Your hypotheses should be explicit about which variables you have chosen
This is cross-sectional data but chosen variable and outcome needs to be explained from a developmental perspective
Need to ensure that your literature review informs the hypotheses you form (identify gaps in the literature)
Will involve obtaining descriptive statistics, together with inferential statistics such as correlation and multiple regression.
