This project is designed as a prototypical learning experience that a nurse would develop for staff in a clinical setting. The student will develop a project plan that realistically can be implemented on their unit or in their facility. It may address any issue pertinent to the course objectives, including patient-centered care, patient satisfaction, value-based purchasing, bio-ethical decision making, shared governance, performance improvement (PI) strategies, resource allocation, fiscal responsibility, management of a diverse workforce, evidenced-based care, disease management, infection control, case management, uncompensated care, length-of-stay management, untimely readmission, delegation to unlicensed, assistant personnel, and/or working in interdisciplinary teams. Project plan must demonstrate critical-thinking, use of the research literature and evidence-based guidelines for practice. The paper should be at minimum 10-12 pages, not including title page, abstract, and reference page. Formatting using the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th) edition is required. Components Provide an introduction that describes the clinical issue you have selected – 10% Provide background and clinical significance of the issue – 15% Based on a review of the evidence-based literature, using peer-reviewed articles, describe the project you are proposing, including the anticipated benefits as well as challenges – 30%. Describe leadership and communication approaches necessary to successfully implement change, integrating relevant change and leadership theories – 30%.
