DESCRIPTION:
– Case Study One: Case notes (250 words):
(NB: Principles of keeping case records are covered in Session 9)
Length: Approximately 250 words. Do not exceed word limit. Be concise.
a) Review your interview recording with your ‘client’.
b) Write a case note based on the recorded interview.
– Case Study Two: “at risk” case study (500 words)
Length: approx 500 words
Read Chapter 12 in Maidment & Egan (2016) [Ensure you use the recent edition; older versions have different page numbers]
Read through the case study 12.1 on pages 187 -188, 191 – 192, 193 – 194
Think about what you would need to do and know in order to be a culturally responsive and competent worker with Maryam and her family, then answer the questions below (using the case study):
1) In this situation what does the worker need to do to ensure they are being culturally competent?
2) Describe the theories, strategies and steps you would take, and why, to ensure the best outcome/s for Maryam and her family?
3) What have you, the student, actually done to increase your knowledge and understanding of people from culturally diverse groups, and what more can you do to address the gaps in your cultural competence?
– Case Study three: Professional Self care (250 words)
Based on the discussion in Week 9, outline the possible stresses that you may face working with individuals and families. Then discuss what realistic strategies you could implement for yourself as a professional worker both in the context of an agency and personally, including the importance of self-care.
Document the main points of this discussion, and include a hypothetical self-care plan for yourself as a professional worker.
