1. Briefly talk about (in paragraph form, in other words do not number your answers) what you notice regarding the formatting of the Malecha et al. (2012)Preview the document reading. How is it set up? For example, it’s a literature review (LR), so some items you might notice are how the section headings are used to express themes/threads.
2. Additionally, you should consider: How do the authors go about writing this LR? How are sources reviewed and how are connections made between the sources? These are questions that you can ask yourself as you read the other examples of LRs we will have in the weeks ahead, and can help you think about how you will review the literature in regards to the sources you have been finding this semester.
3. Once you have briefly noted the format of the Malecha et al. (2012) piece, please summarize the main point(s) of the article, while also making connections to your own experiences. You should make connections to the text by bringing in quotes and paraphrases from the article for this particular discussion, being sure to include signal phrases for all quotes.
While you should have both paraphrases and direct quotes within an APA paper, the citation system does prefer the use of paraphrasing over quoting, so be sure not to use too many quotes even within this TD. This will also be true for the LR you will write. Also, be sure to try and cite all paraphrases and quotes correctly now that you have viewed the APA course materials. Remember, if you paraphrase something from the text completely in your own words, you still need to cite the source with the author and date, either at the beginning of the sentence using a signal phrase or at the end of the sentence in a parenthetical in-text citation such as (Malecha et al., 2012).
