Over recent years, many town centres and high streets have become lifeless and unattractive. This is mainly due to the closure of retail shops, but also other factors such as a lack of public investment. Choose a central street or central area near where you live and describe its current situation. Describe the area in terms of the people who go there, what there is to do, and how attractive or unattractive it is. Then develop and present a plan for the improvement of this area. Consider what should be done to improve it, how this should be done, and who should be responsible or involved in doing it. Think of economic improvements such as attracting shops or markets, social improvements such as organising public events or projects, and environmental improvements such as redesigning public spaces to make them more attractive.
