Ekphrasis is a Greek cognate that refers to a written description in response to a visual work of art. Poets often utilize the term to refer to poetry that is a response or reaction to a given piece of art. For this exercise, we will be writing Ekphrasis poems of our own, following the steps below:
1) Locate a visual work of art to base your poem on. It may be a painting, drawing,
sculpture, garment, film clip, or any other visual medium that inspires you.
2) Write a poem about the visual object itself, or what the art speaks to you as a writer.
