Description
Increasingly we are seeing firms adopting many different socially ‘responsible’ identities (e.g. B Corp, social enterprise, hybrid, fairtrade). In this essay you will explore those organisations that hold two or more of these designations at the same time. Using examples to illustrate your discussion address these five aspects
(i) Select two examples, and explain what types of firms they are based on the designations above
(ii) Discuss how their missions and activities supports each of these identities and who their beneficiaries are.
(iii) Discuss the various challenges they might face in building an economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable business model and market.
(iv) Discuss how we might capture and/or measure the value they create amongst different beneficiaries and what challenges this might pose.
(v) Conclude by discussing to what extent such firms should be responsible for addressing the social and environmental issues facing society.
