BACKGROUND /INTRODUCTION

The assignment requires students to analyze critically, through the application of relevant international business tools and frameworks, the process that companies go through in analyzing; entering and engaging with foreign markets together with any potential risks or opportunities involved.

TASKS

 

You are required to;

  1. Select a business organization of your choice that is already involved in a foreign market or is contemplating on entering a foreign market.
  2. The selected business organization must be agreed with your lecturer
  3. Critically evaluate through the use of relevant business tools and frameworks the suitability of the foreign market selected.
  4. Analyze any actual or potential risks in the foreign market selected.
  5. Critically analyze the mode of entry utilized/or to be utilized by the chosen company to suitably realize the opportunities available and overcome the risks in the foreign market selected.
  6. Critically analyze relevant management responses that have been undertaken by the selected company to realize the opportunities offered in the market selected (including the management of its human resources; operational function; marketing and cross-cultural issues).
  7. Please suggest practical and justified recommendations about how the company selected can achieve/or could achieve competitive advantage in the market selected.
  8. Prepare an academic report using the structure below;

At level 7, you should be able to demonstrate systematic understanding of knowledge, and a critical awareness of current problems and/or new insights, much of which is at, or informed by, the forefront of your academic discipline, field of study or area of professional practice, with a comprehensive understanding of techniques applicable to your own research or advanced scholarship. Your work must contain evidence of logical, analytical thinking, evaluation and synthesis. For example, to examine and break information down into parts, make inferences, compile, compare and contrast information.  This means not just describing what! But also justifying: Why? How? When? Who? Where? At what cost? This includes acting autonomously in planning and implementing tasks at a professional or equivalent level, originality in tackling and solving problems, and decision-making in complex and unpredictable contexts or situations.
