ELM 250 WORKSHEET. PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS . ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS WITH A MINIMUM OF A PARAGRAPH . ALL DISCUSSION QUESTIONS MUST HAVE A CITE REFERRED TO IT. All peer questions must be responded with a minimum of a paragraph also.
Please answer the following Discussion Questions with 2 different ways.
Answer the Discussion questions Below . The guidelines to help you achieve your participation score each week. Although a variety of postings to classmates are encouraged, in order to receive credit toward your participation score, your responses to others must be substantive in nature. I hope these helpful tips guide you when responding to others. Remember, these responses to others are IN ADDITION to the two initial posts to the weekly Discussion Questions.
- Do not merely agree or disagree with a comment without offering concrete reasons to support your opinion.
- Support your ideas with specific examples from the text or other sources.
- Link to other websites when it can help expand the discussion.
- Do not use slang or emoticons.
- Post comments in both DQ forums for the week. Post clarifying questions as well as direct responses.
- Post original and unique thoughts.
As part of the course participation requirements, you must post two substantive responses to classmates on three or more days.
Discussion Question 1 to be answered 2 different ways in paragraph form.
Discussion Question1:
View the “Roller Coaster Physics: STEM in Action,” “Animal Patterns: Integrating Science, Math & Art,” and “Table for 22: A Real-World Geometry Project.” Imagine that you are a student entering each classroom for the first time. How does each setting make you feel? What does each classroom tell you about the teacher who designed the environment?
ANSWER 2 DIFFERENT WAYS WITH 2 CITES AN A MINIMUM OF 2 PARAGRAPHS.
Roller Coaster Physics: STEM in Action
View the “Roller Coaster Physics: STEM in Action” video, located on the Teaching Channel website.

2.What do you think of this quote? Write your view and opinion in paragraph form.
II.
The next questions are to be answered as a response to a peer. Please write a response referring to the Discussion Question from above. Please answer with a minimum of a paragraph.
- After viewing the videos, and as a student entering these classes for the first time, these classes felt very inviting. They are different settings but, the teachers seem very motivated and friendly. Every teacher has their own way of teaching yet very interesting. In the classroom in Animal Patterns: Integrating Science, Math, & Art, his class looks very exciting no time for someone to get bored. He keeps his students busy and engaged, making sure his students understand what he is teaching. His classroom is very spacious and well organized.
Roller Coaster Physics: STEM in Action is also a very interesting class learning how to make a roller coaster. I like how Ms. Migdol has students communicate, share their ideas, problem solvers and works on hands on project. Her classroom looks very welcoming and comfortable. Just the right size, enough room to work on projects.
Table for 22, the teacher greets her students with a smile and at the door. Her classroom is grouped into clustered seating. The room seems to be very small with not so much room to move around. It is heavily decorated, and it will disrupt attention to the students. She should be able to declutter the room and make it a safe environment and less disturbing. Students need their space for positive learning. Imagine if there is a fire and with all the clutter it will make it harder for students to get out. This teacher seems like a busy and disorganized person.
Answer your peer.
- After viewing all three videos and I was a student entering these rooms, the one with the STEM in action, the room was small but she seemed to have everything organized and the students had plenty of room to complete their work, as far a Table for 22, this room had way to much furniture and I am sure all the desk were needed, but with such a small class and a large amount of students, it just didn’t fit, although the students were able to complete the task at hand, it looked as though they were struggling. Now the animal patterns video, this teacher had a large room and he used the space wisely and everything looked neat and organized in the room. I am sure the teachers, just tried to work with what they had, but I think they could have arranged their rooms a little more neatly, you have to be more organized when you only have so much space, instead of trying to have everything out organize it better, the one teacher had a large room and he still have everything neatly away and the room was not over whelming for the students, they were able to move from one area to another, with no problems. What it may say about the teacher is they may not know the right way to organize and may need to ask for help, in a way the make their room look more inviting and also a way that she can create more space for the students to work.
Answer the peer:
- The three videos were all examples of unique and engaging units of study with completely different methods of teaching (and learning!)
First, we had a Roller Coaster design unit, which was stem-focused, problem-based learning.
Jobs based on what individuals do best on (chosen by them). Children speak in target-based language
Animal Patterns –using the same topic across multiple subjects
I really like classes that take a topic and look at all sides of it, from math to science and art to writing! Portions of what they’re learning is applied throughout the day, within other lessons. Felt youthful, especially as the teacher referred to the students as “friends” and their group look involved saying something nice about others
Geometry –real world connections, applications
Traditional education with modeling. I really like how she divides and rearranges groups often! Giving them the ownership of their learning. Her “turning around” approach made me excited to see! “They experienced it, so they learned it”
