To complete this you need to complete the following three steps 1) to summarise, then 2) to critique and finally 3) to reflect AND you are required to provide FIVE (5) academic peer reviewed journal articles from the field of strategic management to support your work.
Use the attached Critical Thinking Guide to help you undertake your critique. Some suggested questions on the guide may not seem to offer constructive areas for while others might offer good avenues for rich critique. Just use what works best for you to effectively critique in this case.
The structure of your assignment should observe the following section headings;

4. Reflection
5. Conclusion
STEP 1 – Summarise and Justify
a) Read the background to the history and culture of the Butchulla people (provided) and undertake your own research into these peoples to ascertain any information which could be important in appreciating and understanding their connection to the land and their principles of community lore. Reference all material you use.
b) Read the provided case study on fracking and undertake your own research. Using the case provided as a guide SUMMARISE ten (10) key points from the strategic perspective of an energy organisation considering entering the fracking industry by drilling on Butchulla land.
c) For each of your 10 points provide a written JUSTIFICATION why it is important for the organisation to consider these in its external strategic analysis before entering the industry.
If LESS than 10 points are summarised and justified, then the grade for this section can be NO GREATER than a pass.
STEP 2 – Critique and Position
a) CRITIQUE five (5) of the 10 strategic points you identified in terms of the three principles of Butchulla lore & the strategic management implications for the firm. Use the critical thinking skills resources (provided) to help you.
b) For each of the five (5) points based on your critique, determine a strategic POSITION for the firm which considers both what is best for the firm and for the Butchulla people. Provide a comprehensive argument to support your position and associated implications.
Point may require consideration of one or more of the principles of Butchulla lore. Be thorough.
If LESS than 5 points are critiqued and positioned, then the grade for this section can be NO GREATER than a pass.
Ensure the arguments you provide are clear, logical, relevant, cohesive and convincing so that the firm’s CEO can make an informed decision based on your critical analysis.
STEP 3 – Reflect and Discuss
a) Provide a REFLECTION on your critique and strategic position for three (3) of the points in a discussion which shares your personal perspectives and insights into the complexities and realities of the situations.
b) In the light of your reflection, discuss possible consequences, potential collateral damage, opportunities or benefits that could be alternatives strategies (course of action) for both parties i.e. the firm and the Butchulla people. In your DISCUSSION refer to the case and information resources that were provided as well as those you have sourced through research.
Use the logic, concepts and language of strategic management, build on your earlier arguments and personal perspective.
c) Use your reflections to provide compelling insights for your conclusion.
If LESS than 3 points are reflected and discussed, then the grade for this section can be NO GREATER than a pass.
