In his essay, “You Can’t Kill the Rooster,” David Sedaris gives a colorful description of his North Carolina-born younger brother. As Sedaris is famous for his comedic short stories and essays it is pretty safe to assume this piece was intended to be funny too. Nevertheless, the question remains:
WHY is it funny?
Base your argument on the nine parts of comedy provided in the Overview and Part One of What Are You Laughing At? by O’Shannon. Keep in mind the book also provides further support material in later chapters that you are welcome to draw from.
