Directions: Find a recent (within the last ten years) peer-reviewed health research article to read and write about. Write a 2-3 page typed paper describing and discussing your article using an introduction, body, and conclusion.
Writing your Health Research Paper
- INTRODUCTION:Begin your paper introducing your article by providing a brief description/definition of your health topic and how it relates to one of the dimensions of health and wellness. Assume your reader has no knowledge of the health topic/article you have chosen. Start with a basic introduction and an interesting fact or statistic to interest your audience.
- BODY:Briefly summarize the major points from the article. Explain why your health article provides useful information. Describe the population that might benefit from knowing this information. If your article is about a specific disease or injury state any risk factors and prevention tips.
- CONCLUSION:What did the authors conclude at the end of the article? Is further research needed for this topic? How can you personally use this information to improve your own health?
Please proofread your paper for any grammar or formatting errors. You should have at least one other person proofread your paper and give you feedback. Visit the writing center at College of the Canyons if you need feedback or help writing your paper. Remember, you should never submit your first draft!
Your paper should in MLA or APA format. Specifically, double-spaced on standard-sized paper (8.5″ x 11″) with 1″ margins on all sides using 12 pt. Times New Roman font. Headers, titles, and spaces DO NOT count toward the two to three pages of writing required for this paper. You must have at least two FULL pages of writing to meet the minimum length requirement for this paper. You must cite your source at the end of the paper using either APA or MLA format. Note: Grade will be determined using the rubric provided on Canvas.
