Preparation for Assignment: View all screen recordings and videos in the Instructor’s Supplements folder for all of the chapters covering adulthood (11, 12, 13) . Be sure to fill in the outlines as you go and read the book as needed.
Requirements for Grading: Answer the following questions in complete sentences and with proper grammar and spelling and punctuation. Your writing must be college level. Also, be sure to type the numbers for each item below to which you are responding so that I may easily recognize each item during grading.
Respond fully to the following statements:
- Provide 1 piece of information or a visual from a media source (non-academic) that is contradictory, or very different in some way, to an idea or finding from research found in the chapters on adulthood. This could be a statement made by a character in a television show or movie, something said by a DJ on the radio, a piece of information or advertisement from a magazine or commercial, lyrics from a popular song, etc. There are many options, but the key is to use a source that is non-academic. Be sure to type enough of the statement or lyrics, etc. or place the image here in an attachment.
Example of finding an idea in the media that is different from an idea found in the chapter information on adulthood. This is fake, of course:) If the theory states that everyone in the world wears black shoes, then if you hear a joke or read some song lyrics or see a picture all depicting or describing how the person or most people wear red shoes, then that would mean that the media source is conveying a very different idea than what the theory states.
- In 3-5 sentences, state and explain how this item is different from an idea or research finding from the adulthood chapters.
- In 3-5 sentences, state and explain why you believe this discrepancy exists. Why does the media portray the different idea than what is found in academia? There is no one right answer to this; just be clear and use college-level writing in stating your thoughts.
