In Chapter 2, you learned about the research methods used in the study of human sexuality. You also learned about notable leaders and researchers in the field. Some of their work seems outdated now and some are still very relevant. It’s clear that research priorities and perspectives are shaped by society’s current and evolving norms, attitudes, and morals.
Take about 30 minutes to compose an at least 500 word discussion post that answers each of the following questions:
Do you believe that sex research benefits individuals and society or that it leads to moral decay? In your answer, provide one possible way that it benefits individuals and/or society and one possible way that it could or has led to moral decay.
Do you believe that there are areas of sex research and/or sexuality that need more attention? What areas of sexuality should be prohibited from being researched? Be sure to justify your points.
Who do you believe should make the decision for funding sexuality research? For example, should those decisions be made by politically-appointed heads of research agencies, by scientists who are experts in the field, or by popular vote among members of the general population? Or by someone else? Be sure to justify your points.
