To better understand the importance of word choice in poetry, select a poem by Robert Frost, preferably one of four stanzas or less. Using a thesaurus, replace at least one word per line with one of the suggestions that the thesaurus provides. When you are finished, compare your new version with the original. In a paragraph or two, discuss the differences that you perceive as they relate to the poems meaning and descriptive images.

ORIGINAL:
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both.
And be one traveler, long I stood.
REVISED:
TWO freeways diverged in a buttery thicket,
And sorry I could not voyage both.
And be one tourist,
long I positioned myself
