This is an individual assignment in which students are required to write a critical review of an article which has made a significant contribution to the field of business strategy.
For this purpose, 4 articles have been placed and students will be required to choose which article they wish to review. The 4 articles are:
- Hamel, G. (1996) Strategy as Revolution in Harvard Business Review, July-August.
- Prahalad, C. K. and Hamel, G. (1990) The Core Competence of the Corporation in Harvard Business Review, May-June.
- Hamel, G. and Prahalad, C. K. (1989) Strategic Intent in Harvard Business Review, May-June.
- Mintzberg, H. (1987) Crafting Strategy in Harvard Business Review, July-August.
The reviews should be no more than 1,000 words in length and should address the following issues:
- The position of the article in the wider debate about processes of strategy (with evidence from further reading to support this)
- The main strength and weakness of the article.
