Overview of the 3-Portfolio Project The 3-Portfolio Case Project Term Paper is designed to illustrate field knowledge and show how your experience is applied to a case study. The 3-Portfolio Project is very similar to the Wall Street Survivor Investment Game located at http://www.wallstreetsurvivor.com/ The Wall Street Survivor online investment game has various leagues. These leagues include an Options Portfolio, Daily Finance Portfolio, $100K Stock Portfolio and a Motley Fool Portfolio. There are about 3,400 individuals who participate in these online investment leagues. For FINC 340 Investments students will construct three, investment portfolios during Week One of class. Each portfolio is different from the next one. The following are a few suggestions to assig you in getting started: (1) An actively selected portfolio (P1): Of the three portfolios, this is the only portfolio that allows trading during the investment period. Below are a few suggestions for equities you may want to consider for P1. (2)A randomly selected portfolio (P2). Imagine a target with a list of stocks that are hanging on a wall. Next, imagine that you throw four darts at the list. Those stocks could be your randomly selected securities. (Other approaches could be: A. Every third stock in the S & P 500 B. Four stocks that begin with T from the Dow Jones Industrial Average
C. Imagine that you are sitting you your living room. Look around you. Select four makers of the products you see.
For example, select Apple for your iPhone, Hewlett Packard for your Laptop computer, Sony for your television, and Best Buy for your iPhone accessories. Note: Randomly selected securities (P2) cannot be traded during the case study.
