Primary Source Set Option 1. Upper Class Ladies and their Lovers
Suggested Research Question/thesis : How did 18th century men use rumors of same-sex sex to humiliate women like Queen Anne and the Countess of Newburgh, and how did these rumors normalize sex between upper class women? (This is the thesis question)

You will need to have the following.
● A completed Primary Source Worksheet for each source in your set. (7 total)
● An essay which uses evidence from all the sources in your set to answer a Research Question (minimum 1000 words).
● A list of other historical research questions that your source set might answer.
● Additional primary sources for your Response Papers (for you only):
● Three extra primary sources into each essay
● 12-point times new roman, 1-inch margins (Normal)
● Chicago style In text citations and a bibliography.
The focus for this assignment should be on analysis and the construction of a sound historical argument. In order to write a historical argument, you will need a thesis statement that can be substantiated with material drawn from your primary sources.
