The general gist of the essay is that it must be about Water in a Humanitarian setting.
The human right to water is now widely recognised but surprisingly is not mentioned in any of the basic of human rights treaties and has only found a mention in constitutions adopted over the past couple of decades. There is thus a strange dichotomy between water being universally acknowledged as one of the most basic elements needed for human survival and its treatment in human rights terms at the national and international levels.
The essay that i require is something that is based on the Human right to water and sanitation (HRtWS) and i want to delve deeper into the implications of this and how it has benefitted some but also has maybe proposed barriers to the access of water for some that live in the periphery. Also as per the above mentioned, i want to look into how this human right to water has only been implemented in recent years and why there is still a big gap between the inherent right to water and how best to administer this to those that need it the most. I want to also have a little focus on Colombia if possible or any country that has a lot of literature on the HRtWS and how they implemented it. Just to maybe show a case study of how this has affected a country such as Colombia and how they act on this Human right to water and sanitation that was only accepted as a universal right by the United Nations in 2010.
