For this assignment, you’re going to select a specific advertisement or commercial and analyze the rhetorical situation of the object featured. This means (beyond the reason someone wants to sell the object), we’re asking what is the exigence or idea that the media you’ve chosen addresses, how is it designed to represent that idea to any kind of audience, and what are the constraints or limitations you find to be important in this situation?
Your paper will be four to five pages and use MLA formatting to provide in-text citations (evidence you want to use from the sources), a Works Cited page (that should be on a separate page after the essay itself is completed), and a proper heading (your name, date, class, and assignment in the upper left, and your title that will be centered above the essay. You should use three sources in your essay (two I’ve provided to help explain the aspects of the rhetorical situation, and the third is your choice of ad or commercial).
