Using a social movement of your choosing, apply the theory outlined in Chapter 9. (6-8 pages)
Please follow this outline for success:
Introductory section – outline the “theory” as described in the text. Here, you would define the variables for both agitation & control and discuss how the authors used them to develop predictive theory.
Choose a social movement, and describe it based on the variables described in the text. You will need to do enough research here – don’t skimp! – you shouldn’t be using gut judgement to describe the variables, but rather ground your claims in supportive research.
Based on the variables you have described, evaluate your movement based on, or place it within, the 6 Generalizations reported by the text’s authors. If you do not find your case within the generalizations, phrase your own generalization and support it with evidence you have uncovered in your research.
Conclusion section – critique the predictive theory/model presented. Is it useful and well grounded, or confusing and ill-founded? Was it able to describe the movement you chose to “study?”
