This Assignment is to be done in American English. It is two pages in the same excel file and a small word document. I have the answers for the tree trim case done already, but they need to put into Excel and show the calculations in Excel.
It will be 3 pages total, 2 excel and 1 word.
Complete the following items for this assignment:
1. Read through the Case 13.1 Tree Trimming Project Case in Larson and Gray. Respond to Questions 1 and 2 of the case. Use Microsoft Excel to complete this item and include all calculations in your Excel file. Note that showing all calculations in Excel is required.
2. Complete Appendix Exercise 2 at end of Chapter 13 in Larson and Gray. Specifically, complete the table on pp. 509-510 in the textbook (note that SPI and CPI can be determined after the table is completed). Assume that cumulative EV, PV, CV, SV, SPI and CPI values are needed. Also, complete the table at the top of p. 511. At the end of Period 5, what is the status of this project (be specific)?
Discuss a strategy that you would use to communicate the status of the project to stakeholders. Use Microsoft Excel to complete this item and include all calculations in your Excel file. Note that showing all calculations in Excel is required.
Submit your Microsoft Excel file. Ensure that items 1 and 2 above are in the same Excel file but on different Sheets within the file.
While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid American academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Hints from Professor: Description
Class, Here’s some hints and help on the 2 exercises:
Tree Trimming Exercise
Assume the tree trimming project will occur in 4 equal periods of 5 days each. That means 6000 trees will be sheared every 5 days. Now you can put together a schedule and help Wil determine if he is on schedule throughout the project. Don’t overthink this exercise! Just show me the earned value calculation and the baseline schedule.
Appendix Exercise #2
Filling in the baseline budget is the most important step. This one is a little tricky because of the “EV Rules”. Notice the first column of the Baseline Budget table (Figure A13.1-2B) – EV Rule. For example Task #1 uses Rule 2 – 50/50. That means that 50% of the money is considered spent when the task starts and 50% of the money is considered spent when the task is completed. As such, line 1 looks like this: 15 0 15 Normally you would want to spread that money out evenly across all 3 time periods 10 10 10 – don’t make this simple mistake! All of your status tables will be incorrect if you don’t get this step right. There are 2 other rules in this exercise that you should read about also: % complete which is spread evenly, and 0/100 which means all money is spent upon completion.
Now to fill in the Status Reports for each period, you are given AC, refer to the table above to find PV and total PV (2 different values!), and then you can calculate the rest.
For time period 1, task 1:AC=40%EV=% complete * total PV (40%*30)PV=money allotted for that task to date (15, since just 1 time period)CV=EV-ACSV=EV-PVFor time period 2, task 1:AC=80%EV=% complete * total PV (80%*30)PV=money allotted for that task to date (15+0=15, time period 1 + time period 2)CV=EV-ACSV=EV-PV
Hope this helps you. Please reach out to me in the forums if you need more help. You may also refer to the solved problem in the textbook appendix for Chapter 13. It is similar EXCEPT that it does not use EV Rules. As I said above, this is a key component in getting this question correct.
