Some arguments state that “you can sleep when your dead”, which is very interesting because you can die from exhaustion because of lack of sleep. For example, although not getting enough sleep won’t kill you, it will definitely impact the body at a physiological level which can increase the likelihood of an accident occurring.
The problem is that the medical community pushes its workers to the limit where they end up having mental problems such as insomnia and sleep apnea which is dangerous because they are going to be the doctors and nurses of the future.
My proposition to helping with sleeping issues in the medical community would be to create an environment where a good amount of sleep is advocated and encouraged for these students and workers by management. In addition, a better work-life balance can also help with sleep issues and reduce burnout. We need healthcare providers!!!
