The barritone sound from the timbre of my violin started to ooze as I tuned it to B octave to record a composition in my home studio. It has been 13 years since I first started learning carnatic violin, a specialized form of Indian classical music. The nascent learning years seemed like a trudge, often marred with the thoughts of my giving up playing the instrument altogether. Fortunately, the demons of indiscipline, accompanied with bouts of thought that this is a chore were slayed by my guiding mother over the years.
