Religion and how it enforces social control is a personal subject to me. The reason this is so personal to me, and this bothers me is because as a domestic violence advocate, I have had countless people sit across me and tell me that their pastor or their deacon or someone within the church told them it would look bad if they got divorced, all while they had a face covered in bruises or worse.
