What is a global hot spot? Why is the world now giving so much attention to this geopolitical conflict? What might be done to manage this conflict, mitigate it, or end it?
Those approaches might include any of the following or some combination of them: traditional diplomacy (either under or outside the auspices of the United Nations); the use of threats, incentives or sanctions to change behavior; providing military aid to one of the two antagonists; or direct military involvement of a third party if the conflict worsens and the two antagonists fight each other. (The last option might be part of the foreign policy of the United States for some global hot spots). Explain why, in your judgment, the approaches that you are evaluating are sound or unsound.
