The Need for All Nurses to Be Involved in Global Healthcare
Today we are only one airplane ride away from another country! Global health issues are literally part of our world now, and we are finding new health issues and diseases presenting in our country. For example, the United States was recently impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which crippled the United States along with the rest of the globe. In addition, many nurses leave their home countries to come to the United States to practice nursing for a variety of reasons. When nurses leave their home countries, often those countries then suffer from a nursing shortage and leave many needing nursing care without an adequate number of nurses to provide care. Please share one example of how you see your role as a professional nurse contributing to global health. What do you see as one priority for every nurse in terms of current and future global health needs that embraces healthcare based on the readings and videos provided to you this week?
