Discussion (Functions Transformation)
Instructions:
- Post your answer to one of the following questions:
- Find two ways of decomposing h(x) = (x-3)^2
- State the order to follow when graphing a function requiring multiple transformations. Give an example.
- Your post needs to be at least 100 words.
- Comment on at least two (2) other classmates’ posts (“that was good”, “I agree with you”, or “you are correct” will not be considered substantial)

- B. The steps and order to follow when graphing a function are the following:
1. Horizontal Shift/ Translation
2. Horizontal and vertical stretch or shrink
3. Reflections across the x and y axes
4. Vertical Shift/ Translation
One example is the function: f(x)= -2(x+4)^2 +5The first thing we do is the horizontal shift, four to the left
Secondly, we apply the vertical stretch by 2
Next, we reflect the graph over the x-axis
Lastly, we can shift the graph upwards by 5 units. All these steps above demonstrate the correct way to do multiple transformations of a function
