Discussion prompt:
What if England never successfully colonized in the New World? In other words, what would be different if there was never a Jamestown nor Boston; if the thirteen British colonies never existed? What impacts, changes, and/or outcomes would be different in the Americas? How do you see the history of the Americas without an English presence?
The key to this Discussion is to make intelligent and realistic assumptions despite the farcical nature of the question. Use the facts we do know and infer or deduce your answer from those. Keep your response in the realms of reality, but still have fun with your ideas. You may take your ideas as far forward in history as you wish, but make sure to at least cover the colonial years (17th and 18th Centuries). Think about things such as nations, culture, languages, Native Americans, politics, wars, slavery, etc.
Only use textbook information. Chapters 1, 3, and 4 have the most information to consider, but you can also find pertinent info in Chapter 2. Make note of specific events or facts in your Discussion and how they could have played out differently. That is key.
