Develop a description of a classroom climate that is academically, socially, and culturally affirming to all students and their families .
To aid you in developing this description you will undertake a “reciprocal” knowledge-sharing dialogue with the family of a public PK12 school student in a school- or community-embedded setting that is convenient for, familiar to, and affirming of the family . For you the goal of the dialogue is to discern, from your family dialogue partners, ideas for teachers to initiate, build, and sustain relationships with students’ families that will “translate” into academically, socially, and culturally affirming classroom climates for all students. Before, during , and after the dialogue, you should:
a) reflect on prejudices and biases you hold about students, their families, and/or their communities of origin;
